Case StudiesDemolition of a redundant office buildingA large 1960's office building, completely out of keeping with modern health, safety, access and energy efficiency requirements was scheduled for demolition. A survey of the hanging tiles on the building revealed roosting pipistrelle bats. As the building was not going to be replaced mitigation for EPS licence was provided by a purpose built bat box on a pole. By pole mounting the box it was at a height more attractive to bats and less likely to be vandalised. It was located in full sun, close to the footprint of the original building, but also near the vegetation so the bats could emerge close to cover, a foraging area and a flight corridor. >more case studies on left
